Fellow Gainsborough councillor Sheila Handley and I were privileged to be on a wet and windy Landseer Park this morning to see work commence on Ipswich BMX Club’s track rebuild project.

The track has been a feature on Landseer Park since the early 1980s. The Club have worked incredibly hard to raise funds to rebuild the track bigger and better and construct a clubhouse for the first time. The start of work today is the realisation of their dreams and they should be rightly proud of what they have achieved.

Besides providing the land for the track Ipswich Borough Council also contributed £40,000 towards the club’s £315,000 project.

The improved facility is expected to open in September and will really put Landseer Park on the map nationally. We can’t wait for the first event on the new track! You can read more about the club and their plans on their website.
