It was a privilege to be invited to the grand opening of Ipswich BMX Club’s new track and clubhouse on Landseer Park today. The weather was rather better than the wet and windy day in June when I attended the last race on the old track.

The track has been a feature on the park since the early 1980s. The club worked incredibly hard over recent years to raise £315,000 to build the bigger and better track we see today as well as the new clubhouse. Now they have realised their dream, and it looks fantastic.

Besides providing the land for the track Ipswich Borough Council also contributed £40,000 towards the build.

With this fantastic facility right on our doorstep the next Olympic gold medalist could be from Gainsborough! You can read more about the club and how to join on their website.
