We moved a big step closer to a brand-new play area for Landseer Park today!

Labour-run Ipswich Borough Council has completed its procurement exercise, selected a specialist supplier to create the new play area for us, and just today we received the first draft of the design from them.

The exciting new play area will include a brilliant selection of modern equipment. It’ll be designed to be highly inclusive, with features that can be used by children with disabilities, including wheelchair users and a special area for quiet play.

There will also be a new safety fence, with seating areas positioned inside. The design we just received is still a draft and may change after discussions with Councillors or because of practical considerations, so sadly I can’t share it at this stage, but it looks stunning.

Parks are a big priority for us. This upgrade is badly needed and can’t come a moment too soon. In the coming days I will be having a meeting with our parks team to go over the plans. I will share more details, including a final design and artists impressions as soon as the Council publishes them, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.

Meanwhile, work is continuing behind the scenes on planning the redevelopment of the Diesco site on Hawke Road and the play area upgrade there, so we have much to look forward to on Greenwich too.
