Councillor Martin Cook with Labour candidate Lynne Mortimer

I am so excited to introduce Lynne Mortimer, Labour’s candidate for Gainsborough ward in the local election on Thursday 5 May.

Former local newspaper journalist Lynne is born and bred in Ipswich and has lived here all her life.

Lynne worked for Volvo in Raeburn Road South in the 1980s and was on the governing body at Raeburn Road/Piper’s Vale Primary and Holywells High schools in the 90s.

For over 25 years, Lynne cowrote and directed the Landseer Players’ pantomimes, which were performed at All Hallows’ Church Hall and Robeck Road School.

Ipswich has many wonderful parks and Lynne is delighted Labour is investing in our green spaces and play areas so that everyone in our community can enjoy them.

Lynne is proud to live in Ipswich and, if elected, wants to improve safety in our town centre.

I would like to record my thanks to Councillor Sheila Handley who is standing down at this election after four years of working hard for our community.
