Five months into Reform’s control of Suffolk County Council, I’ve been back through the Council’s own webcasts of every Cabinet and Council meeting since May.

Sixteen times, a Cabinet Member asked a straightforward question in public has said they’ll answer in writing instead. In the webcasts from the previous year, I counted seven.

The questions weren’t trick questions. How many accidents at a dangerous junction? Is the Council’s financial position better or worse than in May? Will the new plan show twenty-nine family hubs or seventeen? How many people are waiting for a legal safeguard on their liberty, and is that number rising?

That last one was mine, at Cabinet on 15 October. I was told an email would be forthcoming. I’m still waiting.

So I’ve put the answers together in one short video. Every clip is from the Council’s own webcast, and you can check each one against the full meetings on the Council’s YouTube channel.

Council meetings are where the people you elect are supposed to answer for what they’re doing with your money and your services. Answers in the room, please, not in the post.
